After a very successful inaugural year the Australian Swift racing series has already become a talking point within the motor sport industry as a category to watch as the 2012 season unfolds. The 2011 series featured a number of talented Karters obtaining their CAMS national licences and making the transition to National Circuit racing on an achievable budget.
Australian Swift series management wish to continue debuting fresh talent from the Karting ranks and putting that talent in front of the mainstream motorsport industry and media.
This weekend- June 22-24 will see the Hi Tec-Oils Australian Swift Racing Series take to Winton Raceway for the third round of the 2012 series. This round will see Brooke Leech re-join the field as the only female driver on the grid while the father and son, Rob and Alan Jarvis continue to battle it out at the pointy end with Reece Murphy for the top spot in the series with ever improving country music star, Adam Brand hot on their heels. We will see the likes of karting drivers Damien Ward and Dale Crawford on the grid as they launch there racing career on the Victorian circuit. All up, 9 drivers will take to the track as a part of the Shannons Nationals in Australia's newest one make series.
Five new drivers and two old hands took to the track at the Gold Coast’s Norwell driver training centre last week in the first of a series of test sessions to kick off activities for the 2012 Swift Racing Series.
Rob Whyte (Monster Energy 350Z Pilot) and 16 year old national Karting driver Lucas Ward were two of the standouts of the new drivers that tested the exciting Swift Sport race car. Both drivers are keen to join the Swift Racing Series in 2012.
All drivers were able to experience each of the three cars on hand. Once again the feedback was all about consistency and the only thing different about the cars were the colour.
